So for the past 8 wks or so, I've been having random braxton hicks contractions, but nothing consistent so I never worried. Until last Monday, when I woke up from a nap and was having them pretty bad and for about an hour straight. It was 5:30 when I woke up so Nate had just gotten home from work. I waited an hour and then called my doctor. Of course the office was closed so the on-call nurse told me to go over to the hospital. I told Nate it was no big deal, and that I would just run over real quick and he could stay home with Sadie. When I got to the hospital, they got me all hooked up and started monitoring my contractions. Lucky for me, my doctor happened to be on-call that night and was already at the hospital. So he came in and told me my contractions were close together and that he wanted to give me an iv and get me hydrated. He also checked me to see if I was dilated and luckily, I was not. He also did what's called a Fetal Fibronectin Pre Term Labor Test. Once they got me loaded with fluids, my contractions slowed down significantly, so he said I could go home. He also said the test results wouldn't come back 'til the middle of the night but that it would probably be negative, and not to worry. I got a missed call at midnight, that night and it turns out it was my doctor, calling to tell me my test results came back positive. He called me into his office the next day. When I got there, the nurse told me the bad news and immediate followed it with, "he's going to put you on bed rest 'til the baby comes". I immediately started crying and said, "how am I going to be on bed rest with an 11 month old!" So for the next 20 min, while I waited for the doctor to come in, I laid on the bed with all these horrifying thoughts running through my head, thinking, this is not happening! Once my doctor came in, he gave me a little piece of good news. He said that because I wasn't dilated, he wasn't going to put me on "strict bed rest". He said I just needed to take it very easy and he wanted me to come in every week to get checked. So then I immediately asked if I could still go to Utah next week. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize me going full term, but I also need to get out of this heat so bad! So he said that if I come in on Tuesday, and there's still nothin going on, he'll let me go. Phew!!! So now I am just trying my BEST to lay low. It is very hard for me though, I'm not going to lie. I hate just sitting around. I'm constantly thinking of things I should be doing around the house. Julie has been extremely helpful. I go over to her house, in between Sadie's naps, and she helps with Sadie while I try to relax. Nate has been absolutely amazing! I came home yesterday to find that he had left work early to come home and clean the house. He's constantly telling me to stop doing stuff and he is so helpful with Sadie. And surprisingly, he is really good at cleaning! Who knew?! That's alot coming from me, cause I'm extremely anal when it comes to cleaning. I am one lucky girl to have him as my husband!
Here's a pic of my wonderful husband, in action.
